The pace is relaxed, yet there’s so much to do.
Start with a wonderful variety of outdoor activities, like boating, biking, kayaking or a round of golf. Now add the charm of a quaint waterfront town where time slows to a leisurely pace and friendly people greet you at every turn. That’s life in Onancock, Virginia just down the road from Underhill Creek Landing. Founded in 1680, Onancock is a world away from the frantic pace of 21st-century life.
The town is home to a lucky few: about 1,500, give or take. It’s also home to art galleries, restaurants, shops, and several Victorian-era bed-and-breakfast inns. Whether you’re arriving by boat or by car, explore everything Onancock offers you and your family at www.onancock.org. You’ll also see why this beautiful town was named one of the nation’s 20 Best Affordable Neighborhoods to Retire by Neighborhood Scout.
Golfing — Like everything else in the Onancock area, golf mixes right in with water. The Eastern Shore Yacht and Country Club, as the name suggests, can be reached by car or boat. Five of the course’s holes border on beautiful Taylor Creek; water is in play on nine holes. Cool breezes off the water and narrow, tree-lined fairways make this outstanding course a different challenge every time you play it.
Biking — Level shore terrain and long stretches of open road make the Onancock area a paradise for cyclists. Bring your bike, or rent one in town.
